Beaches


Sharing its western border with the Arabian sea, Kerala has a 600 km long shore line dotted with some of the finest, most charming beaches of the world, coconut grooves, natural harbors, lagoons and sheltered coves .

 
Kovalam Beach

The Internationally renowned beach resort has been a favourite haunt of tourists since 1930's. There are three successive crescent shaped beaches, fringed by lush coconut groves, in a sheltered bay. The sea is serene and blue, and the surf is good in most days. .
 
Varkala Beach

Varkala is a sea side resort and as well as an important Hindu pilgrimage. High cliffs with rich mineral springs rise majestically from the coastline.
 
Marari Beach (Mararikulam)

Marari Beach at Mararikulam is one of the local fishing villages, with the most fabulous stretch of soft sand, fringed by Palm. An idyllic retreat for those who want to get away from it all.
 
Kappad Beach

This is the historic beach where Vasco Da Gama landed on 1498 with 170 men in three vessels. The beach here is very calm with a stretch of rocks projecting into the sea. The temple at the rock is believed to be 800 years old. 
 
Cherai  Beach

A lovely beach bordering Vypin island (COCHIN) is ideal for swimming. Dolphins are occasionally seen here. A typical Kerala village with paddy fields and coconut groves nearby is an added attraction at this beach.
